Diablo II: Resurrected R2.0 Beta Necromancer - A Labor of Love

The development journey for Diablo II: Resurrected R2.0 beta, particularly for the necromancer class, has been a labor of love for the team. When we decided to bring this beloved game over to Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch systems, we knew it wasn't just about perfecting the game balance. We also wanted to recreate the subtle details that players may not have consciously noticed when playing the original title two decades ago.

From the sound of a potion being drunk to the way monsters appear in a dark room, these minor elements all contribute to the fond memories of the original experience. Our goal was to authentically represent the game's graphics while also showcasing its evolution through Legacy mode. By toggling between modern and legacy graphics, players can appreciate how far the game has come.

Rather than simply recreating what Diablo II was, we aimed to build a remaster that would stir nostalgia in veteran players and introduce new players to the world of Sanctuary. Our design director, Robert Gallerani, shared with us the team's approach to adapting this PC classic to contemporary consoles.

The result is a game that not only retains its original charm but also offers improvements that make it more accessible than ever before. Players across Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch systems will now be able to embark on the famous quest east, making Diablo II: Resurrected R2.0 beta an unforgettable experience for both old and new fans.

With the release date set for September 23, 2021, Champions of Sanctuary can once again join forces with the Dark Wanderer to rid the realm of Hell's minions. The iconic ARPG, Diablo II, has been remastered and resurrected, offering a fresh take on a classic game that will leave players eager for more.
